Exterior
Exterior Painting covers a
broad range of services. Here they are broken down into three specific
areas of exterior services;
Painted surfaces
Stained Surfaces
Maintenance Surfaces
Painted surfaces
We do 80% of our work outside applying paint.
If your home is in need of a freshening up or a full restoration.
We offer different surfaces to meet all of your needs.
The process for painted surfaces can be
very job specific. Some homes are in need of very little work, while
others may need cleaning, scraping, sanding, washing, caulking,
repairing, and finally priming and painting. Of course the cost
of the job will be directly affected by the amount of work needed.
Repairs are easily done during the preparation stage.
The prep stage consists of getting the project
back into good condition. . We have to initially wash the house
with pressurized water and then do the detective work. We find that
many homes need scraping and sanding done. We do this to ensure
that the surfaces are clean and ready for primer and paint.
Stained Surfaces
Similar to log siding restoration, we have
to get the siding back into pristine condition. This requires the
very same process we use on log home projects. Click
here to read about the process used to restore log siding.
After the siding is clean and dry, we can
apply the stain. You can choose from three different types of stains;
transparent (this product allows you to see the complete grain of
the wood), semi-transparent (this product allows you to only see
large variations in wood grain), Solid color stains (looks very
similar to paint but penetrates the wood instead of resting on its
surface).
If the siding is in bad condition we will
suggest either a semi-transparent or solid color stain to help the
house look uniform. We also offer repair and replacement of siding
when it is needed.
Maintenance Free Painting
If you have aluminum, vinyl, or other types
of maintenance free siding, you may have some options with painting
it. This preparation process is very similar to all other siding
types, but a special etching primer is used to bond with the surface
to hold paint. It has been our experience that two or three coats
may be required to cover surfaces thoroughly and evenly.
