Log Siding Restoration

We have focused the last three years researching and developing sensitive processes that allow the beauty to once again show through in your log home. From residential to commercial log siding applications, we are known to provide the best services out there.

We find that every client wants a personal look for their log home and that challenges Mondloch Painting to develop new and innovative ways to accomplish those goals and desires. From applying additional coats of sealer to a complete restoration - We can do it!

The process involved in preparing log siding is very sensitive. We desire to see the natural beauty of the log glowing from behind a protective layer that allows the log siding to last. This cleaning process includes bleaching, scrubbing, rinsing, and requires a drying period.

When we start cleaning your log siding we must determine whether or not mold and bacteria are present. The best way to know is that the log siding will look black in areas or have black spots on it. If this is not present then a simple power washing will suffice. However, if the wood has been infested and damaged we will need to apply more vigorous cleaning techniques.

When mold and bacteria are present we will apply a mold/bacteria bleaching agent that kills current infections and prevents future growth. It also helps brighten the wood several shades. This, coupled with an intense scrubbing allows the siding to return closely to its natural state.

We will then remove the cleaning agents with pressurized water. This helps remove dirt from the wood and washes any leftover agents also. Now, we pick out stains and sealers as we wait for the wood to dry out. We cannot begin to apply any color or sealing products until the wood is thoroughly dry.

Now it is time to protect the logs. This is the spot in the process that will allow your personal taste to appear on your home. We then seal the siding with Cuprinol. We do this to keep bacteria from reentering the wood, and helps keep the wood safe from elements.

With any surface that needs continual maintenance the homeowner becomes responsible for future concerns. We warranty the sealer for two years, and after that the product begins breaking down and requires additional attention.

It is expected that continual maintenance will ensure the life of your investment for years to come.
